IRS Payment Plans

You owe back taxes, but you can’t afford to pay them in full. Don’t worry. You have options other than default. The professionals at Tidy Tax Services can help you negotiate an installment agreement with the IRS that will allow you to pay off your taxes and still cover your living expenses. Better yet, once you’ve entered an installment agreement, the IRS will not take collection action such as a levy or lien against you as long as you pay your minimum monthly payment and file all subsequent tax returns.

Applying For a Payment Plan

Before you can establish an installment agreement, you must file all necessary tax returns. We at Tidy Tax Services can prepare and file all required returns and begin eliminating your tax woes.

If you owe the IRS less than $25,000, including penalties and interest, you may apply online or submit Form 9465, Installment Agreement Request. Your installment agreement will not be denied if you owe $10,000 or less and the following three conditions are true and/or met:

For the past five years you have filed all income tax returns on time, paid all income tax due, and haven’t entered into an income tax installment agreement.

You provide the IRS with information to verify that you cannot pay the tax you owe in full when it is due.

You agree to pay the tax you owe within three years and follow all tax laws throughout the duration of your installment agreement.

If you owe more than $25,000, Form 433-F, Collection Information Statement, is required. As the amount of tax owed increases, the information required and actions on your part to qualify for an installment agreement also increase.

For installment agreements the IRS charges a set-up fee ranging from $43 to $105 depending on income and method of payment. Payments may be made via electronic funds withdrawal, payroll deduction, or check.

What If I Don’t Qualify?

If you can’t afford to make monthly payments or you don’t qualify for an IRS installment agreement, the tax specialists at Tidy Tax Services can help you arrange other types of tax relief, such as an offer in compromise or an abatement of penalties due to reasonable cause. We will analyze the statute of limitations to assess and collect, or to negotiate for your account to be placed in a “currently not collectible” status so that you will not be required to make payments and the IRS will not pursue collection action.

Dealing with tax debt from $10,000 to $100,000 plus is stressful and confusing. Collection and liquidation of assets may loom, but you do not have to resolve this matter on your own.
